I had gum disease for a long time without realizing it. Now I’m losing most of my teeth. It’s disheartening. The only thing I remember about dentures is my grandma wore them…sometimes. They were often so comfortable that she kept them out. When she did wear them they looked obviously fake. I’m devastated that this is my future and am hoping that with all the modern developments we’ve had that maybe we can make dentures look better.

Evie,
There have been a lot of developments in teeth replacement. You can now get dentures that look as good or even better than your natural teeth (not that I’m saying your natural teeth look bad). I’m just saying, if you’re stuck with fake teeth, why not get an upgrade.
However, there is an even better development in tooth replacement you should at least look into. Dental implants are like having your natural teeth back. They are more expensive, but are superior to dentures. Though, not everyone is a candidate.
The good news is that whichever you choose will be far superior to anything your grandmother had access to.
