Is one type of dental implant better than another?

I’m going to get dental implants and wondered if one type is better than another.

Peter S. – Little Rock, AR

I’m not sure I understand your question. Are you asking whether to get mini implants or full-sized implants or are you asking about specific brands?

Either way, the better question would be the best dentist to do my implants. A highly qualified dentist will know which is best in either scenario.

Dental implants are an advancd procedure, with many mitigating factors, so the first step is finding the dentist with the right post-graduate training.

There’s not a recognized implant specialty, so any general dentist can technically place them, but you want to make sure they have the training as well as the procedural success rate.

For instance, Dr. Cha has completed every course at the Misch International Implant Institute. He’s also a fellow at the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). You want to make sure you find someone with his type of qualifications.

Can dentures look beautiful?

I come from a long line of denture wearers. It’s like a family tradition. I’m hoping I can change one part of that tradition. Everyone else has horribly ugly looking dentures. Is there any way to make dentures that look natural?  Or even beautiful?

Kenna M. – Ohio

I’m glad you wrote.  Yes, denures can look natural AND beautiful. However, and it’s a big however, it has to be done by the right dentist.

You need a dentist that is highly skilled in cosmetic dentistry. Two dentists can do the exact same cosmetic work, with the exact same instructions and smile in mind, and they will come out differently. Why? Because it is about more than the technical skill. It also requires an artistic eye.

The safest thing for you to do is for you do go to someone who is accredited with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). These are the top dentists in the world.
