About Dr. Gaches
As a youngster in Oklahoma, Mark Gaches was self-conscious about his peg laterals (miniature side front teeth) to the point where he wouldn’t fully smile. When his dentist put two crowns on those teeth, he had an immediate feeling of self confidence. It was a life-changing experience that led him to want to become a dentist and do the same thing for others.
Dr. Gaches began his college education at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He went on to receive a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2015 from the University of Southern California, where he also treated underprivileged children at various mobile clinics associated with the university.
While obtaining his education, Dr. Gaches also volunteered time to the community of Los Angeles, treating people in many areas of the city including the homeless of “Skid Row” and patients at the Los Angeles County Hospital and the Hollenbeck Nursing Home.
After graduation, Dr. Gaches has pursued continuing education with several dental organizations, including the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He is a member of the above organizations and also the American Dental Association, the Oklahoma Dental Association, and the Tulsa County Dental Society.
Knowing that every day is a unique experience, Dr. Gaches comes to work motivated to overcome any new challenges and help his patients achieve their best long-term results. By looking at the big picture and working on oral care as a whole, not just a single tooth, Dr. Gaches takes a conservative approach to dentistry and strives to preserve natural teeth and natural tooth structure as much as possible.
He believes a visit to the dentist doesn’t have to be a scary or “stuffy” experience, and takes time to get to know everyone personally. He doesn’t see patients as just another crown or filling to be done, but as friends whom he wants to catch up with.
Dr. Gaches aims to give the same life-changing feeling to his patients that he had when he received his own smile makeover.
Dr. Gaches’ family has a history of public service. His parents worked in the public education system for many years, first as teachers and now as a superintendent and a counselor. Prior to becoming a mom, his sister completed a tour of duty in the U.S. Marines.
Dr. Gaches also contributes to the local community as a volunteer at the annual Oklahoma Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic.
He and his wife, Val, enjoy spending time with their dachshund, Archer. Dr. Gaches enjoys traveling, music, and watching sports. He is a fan of Oklahoma Sooners football, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He takes a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry, and merging the aspect of artistry with the science of dental care. He enjoys helping others and feels a sense of satisfaction in helping his patients, overcoming their fears, and designing dream smiles.
